Books Inspiring Film is an organization started in Suburban Philadelphia which encourages reading among teenagers by linking reading to film. High School students create short videos to promote books to their peers since teenagers are more likely to read a book that a peer has read and recommended. The organization is a great vehicle for motivating the high-tech and digital teen generation to read more.
Books Inspiring Film has been supported in its expansion efforts by Bryn Mawr Film Institute (www.brynmawrfilm.com), a non-profit organization that features first-run, independent and foreign films, offers a wide range of film studies classes, hosts community film events, and helps area schools meet their own film studies needs.
